Holiday Fun!

This past weekend we had fun decorating the house, putting up the Christmas tree and having a little photo shoot all dressed up so we could get a shot for the Christmas card. Alexa was really into the tree this year and even has her own little tree that she decorates and "re"decorates daily. She is also in charge of the Nativity set which is about 40 years old and is missing a wise man, the angel and a few animals. It was a little tough trying to explain the story with several key players not present but I think she got the jist of it. This year is so much fun because she really seems to get the whole thing. She is still not sure if she wants to go visit Santa. She remembers last year and he sort of freaked her out. One day she was being naughty( a whole other post ; ( and I told her that Santa was watching so he'll know if she is being naughty or nice. Oh you should have seen her face. What a weird concept to understand but I figure it didn't screw me up as a child so I'll continue the tradition. ; )
We were in Target the other day and she saw that lifelike pony Butterscotch. Oh dear. Alexa loooves horses and she was quite taken with this thing. It makes real sounds and moves, you can sit on it, feed it a carrot, brush it,etc Well, she has never asked for anything before, ever and on the way home she's going "Please Mom, please can I have Butterscotch?" Pleading with me almost. So I say "Ask Daddy when we get home" Copout I know but the darn thing is $250 and I've bought her presents already. She talks about that darn horse every day now. So now, we are on the hook with Butterscotch....stay tuned...
Happy Shopping to you all!

Make It Work!

This is for all the Project Runway fans out there! Tim Gunn came to Scottsdale last night and my mom and I, who are huge fans of the show went to the fashion show and book signing. We had second row seats and we got to see Tim up close and personal. After the show they had a Q&A time and goodness, give me the chance to get on a microphone..I'm there! So they actually came to me, handed me the mic and I got to ask Tim a question. This is what I said " Hi Tim, so excited to meet you. I'm a stay-at-home mom, and I'd like to know what advice you have for all us moms to look fabulous while at home with our kids?" So he answered the question then says, "Could you stand up again please?" Okay, there's like 250 people there and my heart is beating out of my chest. Then he says, " You look adorable, that outfit is fantastic!" OH MY GOSH! Tim Gunn telling me that...all I could say was thank you and sat back down blushing like a dork.
So after the show you could wait in line to meet him( we waited an hour), get his new book signed and get a photo. So when we finally get up there, he shakes my hand and says "Hi, you're the cute stay-at-home mom." Pee in my pants time! So he signs my book and says, "Your question was a good one but if you look like this everyday then you don't need my advice." To which I replied, " Oh no, this is only for you Tim. I certainly don't look like this during the day." So a shout out to all the moms who get dressed up once a month( if I'm lucky) and go out feeling like the hot chicks we used to be( and still are). Thanks Tim for being gracious and real and making this stay-at-home mom feel like a million bucks last night.

Jack-O-Lanterns

Tonight we carved our pumpkins. Alexa didn't like to stick her hand in her pumpkin much to dig out the seeds. I did catch her a few times trying to taste the pumpkins seeds. She said she wanted to plant one outside tomorrow. We went out on the patio and lit them up afterwards and Alexa really liked that.
We talked tonight about Halloween and how some people like to be scared a little on this night and she told me "Mom, scary is not fun." I told her she might see some kids( and adults) dressed up a little scary on Wednesday so she would be prepared. I asked her what she wants her Papa to be for Halloween and she said very matter of factly " a pumpkin". Then she thought about it a minute and said, " he better not come as a scary witch". I told her I couldn't make any promises. : )

Halloween Pups

The dogs look forward to this day all year..can't you tell. ; )
Jinx positively hates it the most. I think they are mortified when I dress them up. They won't even look in the camera which is funny, it's like they know what I want and no way are they playing that game. Happy Halloween!

Hubei Family Reunion

We are on the last day of our reunion and I wanted to quickly post a couple of photos. We have been having the best time together and I am already getting sad to say goodbye to everyone tonight. We have our farewell dinner tonight after 3 full days of fun. All the girls are beautiful! Of course we have a ton of photos so in a few days I will post many more and tell you all about our reunion.
