I don't normally post pictures of myself but tonight I wanted to celebrate, and the happiness my face shows says it all. This evening after 10 years of teaching, before I decided to stay home with Alexa, I went to my first Parent Night at Alexa's school. No big deal for most moms but for me this was huge. For 10 years and mostly the last 5 I taught, every Open House, Spring Musical, Christmas Program and event that I participated in,I was on the other side. I always wanted to be watching my child be the Christmas angel, sing on stage and get excited about the first day of school. To sit tonight and be the "mom" instead of the teacher was very emotional for me. It was like "finally, now it's my turn". Big night for me and those who know me well can see it in my face!

Nothin' Says Lovin' Like a Home Haircut!

Well, here we are at the Kroger Salon. Yes, a day at the salon it was not this afternoon. We were all excited and off we went. We had talked about the haircut for a week, what was going to happen, it would be fun, etc.. Well, Alexa fell asleep on the drive down and when she woke up she opened her eyes and said "it's gonna hurt". Yep, downhill from there. We went in and sat down and my hairdresser came out and Alexa started crying saying in the saddest voice ever, "I want to go home." Okay, let's just give it a try. So we go to her chair and she sits on my lap and here comes the cape...oh goodness, she hit that away, really started crying and we decided, nope, no haircut today. So off we went....with a few tips from my hairdresser on how to cut it myself at home. : )
We'll I've cut a few people's hair before but never a toddler who is moving her head every second. So I did the best I could, gave her some bangs and trimmed the back pretty good. I could not tell you at this point if it is even but it looked pretty cute.
The scary thing about this whole thing is school starts next Tuesday and I think we are in for some major drama if today is any indication....

"That's my love."

That is what Alexa said to me when she handed me this playdough heart she made. The magic moments of motherhood....

Tomorrow Alexa is getting her first haircut. Think she needs it?

Daddy Games

Yes, these are the silly things that Dads do. Put your child under a 10lb down cushion because she is a squirrel. They have so much fun together being silly!

Same!

Alexa took this photo. Right now it's all about being the " same" as mama. I think it is super cute. The other day we were going out shopping and she saw that I had bracelets on so she ran and got her bracelets and her purse. We are the same in many ways. Two peas in a pod! or Two feet in pink flip flops!

Sand Play!

Alexa's had this water table for two summers and has played with it just about every day. So we decided( finally) to get some sand and put that in it. She really liked it, you can tell by her special "I'm excited" smile. Oh, don't you just love the boots? My sister-in-law gave these to me after her kids were through with them and they are the perfect boots for out here. She finally fits in them. Today we ran into town and she wore them with a white cotton dress...gotta love that!

Rock it out girl!

Dog # 2

Georgie. You know that one pet that comes around once in your life and just means the world to you, well that's my girl Georgie. She's eight and has been with me through thick and thin. She's a Shnoodle, leader of the pack, a champion swimmer and great companion. I love her to death!

My little helper

I am a really good helper. My favorite is to help Mom fold clothes. Here I am putting away my underpants. Why does Mom keep taking my picture? I told her "Mom. I'm busy."

Scissors are fun!

Guess what I learned how to do today? Yep, use scissors. They weren't very sharp because they are my playdough scissors, so Mom is going to get me some better ones. I really liked cutting up that catalog. I have to get these skills ready for school in a few weeks. I can now say the ABC's too! Watch out preschool here I come!

Outing with dad this morning

Before & After
Hmmm, what happens in an hour ? Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the hour to myself to actually shower and put on some mascara but goodness what a transformation. I guess going out with Dad has a whole different vibe then going out with Mom. : )

Oh Great!

Yes, when your child gets up at 6:00 a.m this is what you'll resort to so you can have a cup of coffee. : )

I stayed dry all day!

( sung to Happy Birthday)

My underpants stayed dry
My underpants stayed dry
My underpants stayed dry all day,
My underpants stayed dry!

Hooray! Today was the first day with no potty accidents. This is a big day for me. I got a piece of cake with a candle that I got to blow out 4 times ( so mom could get the shot)! Everyone is so proud, me too! Thank you, bravo!
